The town is famous for its stone quarries (now abandoned) which supplied Taynton (Cotswold) stone for the building of Blenheim Palace, St Georges Chapel Windsor, the interior of St Pauls Cathedral and many Oxford Churches and Colleges.

The church is mainly 15th Century, and is set in attractive churchyard.

There are six bells (tenor 7cwt). Mostly cast by Bonds of Burford.
