2020 Russell Ingham
Russell has been a very popular, friendly, helpful and active member of the Charlbury tower team and of the branch over the past two years. In terms of his own ringing, Russell has been a regular attendee at weekly practices at both Charlbury and Chadlington as well as branch practices. Russell’s understanding of the mechanics of bell ringing is excellent as is his bell control. As he extends his repertoire of method ringing Russell is always keen to progress slowly but accurately – an admirable trait!
In addition to his ringing, Russell has given considerable time and effort to helping with bell & tower maintenance and enhancement projects throughout the branch. At Charlbury, Russell was very much involved with improvements within the ringing chamber including lighting and safety measures. Russell has also built a magnificent model bell for demonstration purposes - beautifully engineered and crafted and a great asset to the tower. Elsewhere in the branch, Russell has been quick to offer his assistance with other tower work and, in particular, he has been very actively involved with the major project at Taynton. Russell has also been happy to lend his assistance with tower installation inspections.
Altogether, Russell has shown outstanding commitment to the cause of bellringing and tower maintenance within the branch and is an invaluable member of the team.
2019 Jo Cook and Alison Minson
Jo Cook and Alison Minson have been awarded the Claire Tarrant award for 2019. Those who nominated them felt it would be difficult to separate them and that they are both equally deserving. Both of them have a good handling style. They are totally committed to Burford Tower and have been for many years, rarely missing a practice or service. They are always willing to ring at other services within the Benefice and further afield. They are also committed members of Shipton-under-Wychwood tower, hardly missing a practice or ringing for service. They are amongst the most regular attendees at Branch practices, meetings and AGMs. They support fundraising events within the Branch and do anything they can to help.
